We have just returned from the far north and from the train saw the Flow Country, wild, desolate and astonishing.
We also saw the hotel at Forsinard waiting for a use. We read (your report, 15 April) that the RSPB wants a field centre or research laboratory at Forsinard.
The Scotsman has shown us what it will look like – monstrous – in its proposed setting in the peatland.
And there stands the hotel, near the railway station, a perfectly good alternative.
What hope have we when, if those charged with preserving this unique nature reserve totally forget what they are meant to be about?
