Workers at the huge Grangemouth oil refinery will be told today whether the plant has a future or faces permanent closure amid an increasingly bitter dispute about a survival plan put forward by the owners.

The Scottish Government confirmed it was scouring the globe for a buyer for the troubled Grangemouth plant, in a bid to secure its long-term future and avoid a damaging stand-off between current owners Ineos and the workforce.

Meanwhile Facebook was branded “irresponsible” by David Cameron for lifting a ban on videos of beheadings being posted on its site.
