THERE will be a judge led inquiry into the Edinburgh Trams project, First Minister Alex Salmond has announced.

An inquiry is to be held into the spiralling cost and delays that have beset the Edinburgh trams.

The First Minister said the investigation would examine why the project ended up costing £776 million, double the original estimate.
