Prime Minister David Cameron has vowed that his government will be the first in living memory to reduce the volume of red tape ensnaring business regulations – a move which will save more than £850 million per year.

He told a Federation of Small Businesses conference that thousands of pages of guidance , will be scrapped, resulting in a reduction of 90 per cent .

This is to include 80,000 documents of environmental guidance, he said.
