Win win

What if both sides in the referendum debate are “right” in one specific area, the area of positive possibility? If the majority of people vote Yes, I believe we can go forward with new possibilities and challenges in an independent Scotland. If the majority of people vote No, I believe we can go forward with new possibilities and challenges in a United Kingdom. Both scenarios offer great possibilities, however in our “winner takes all” culture both sides would deny that.

Whatever happens on 18 September, we will all have a second vote. This will be a heart, mind and spirit vote. The reality is that only 20 per cent of the working population will look forward to their occupations with an expectancy of being engaged or valued and most unclear of their own talent or potential.  So, 19 September offers those of us who are fit the chance to contribute into lives of those less fortunate than ourselves. It may seem idealistic to start a 19 September campaign at this stage, but without serious attention being paid to that aspect of the debate, we will miss an opportunity that future generations will hold us accountable for.
