Sporting chance

Now that Scottish Tory landowners are funding the No campaign, the SNP government should reintroduce the sporting rates for shooting and salmon fishing, abolished by the Tory government in 1995.

The sporting rates ensured that landowners contributed towards funding rural schools, as they had done for centuries. The promise of such a move would surely aid the Yes campaign.
