Sales push

According to recent reports, for every £1 spent on advertising, the gross national product would grow by £6. It seems to me this is more claptrap put out by businesses that have no regard for people beyond their role in helping them make big profits.

Consumer overspending in the 1990s directly led to our current financial state. Are advertisers seriously suggesting we go back to those days and bring on another crash?
