Yet another director resigns from Creative Scotland with a considerable pay-off (your report, 21 December).
In a move which mirrors the BBC on a smaller scale, why is additional public money given to public sector executives who resign or are sacked from their jobs? Rewards for failure seem endemic within the public sector, with money thrown at those who leave of their own volition, whether they be politicians, local government bosses or quango chiefs.
Contractual arrangements which permit this should be stopped and people remunerated properly for doing a good job. Under-achieving should not prompt golden handshakes.
