Online ads will be subject to rules
FULL advertising regulations are to be extended to retailers' own websites and online areas, such as Twitter and Facebook.
The online extension, which was announced yesterday, has "the protection of children and consumers at its heart".
The changes will come into effect in March next year, the Advertising Standards Authority said.
