Online auction braced for festive rush
EBAY traders are expected to swing into action today, sparking the start of an online shopping frenzy.
The site is predicting a rise on last year's trade when the pre-Christmas rush started with 4.5 million customers and 14 gifts being bought every second.
Research by TNS for the site has found that 89 per cent of shoppers will buy their gifts online, 16 per cent more than last year. Julia Hutton-Potts, a spokeswoman for eBay, said: "After a year of doom and gloom, it seems everyone has been looking for some Christmas cheer."
