One man went to mow… or not

THE quality of grass-cutting has gone downhill in Fife – because workmen are allowed to mow only on flat ground.

Fife Council has imposed a ban on its workers pushing lawnmowers down any slope greater than 15 degrees because of health and safety rules – despite there being no record of anyone ever being injured in the area in a mowing accident.

Residents hit out at the "nanny state" move yesterday and said that a number of patches of uncut grass had left the area looking unsightly.

Steven Falconer, 42, from Glenrothes, said: "No-one wants to see a workman getting hurt, but surely a bit of common sense is all that's required."
