Motorbike assassins kill two army officers

Gunmen on motorbikes
assassinated two Yemeni army officers in the country’s capital yesterday.

The latest deaths came as clashes between the military and tribal fighters loyal to
al-Qaeda in a north-eastern province killed three soldiers and 11 tribesmen within 24 hours, officials said.

The two army officers were gunned down in separate parts of the Yemini capital, Sanaa,
security officials said.

Similar attacks have resulted in the death of several senior military and intelligence officials this year.
