One-stop rail trip to London
ONE-STOP trains taking passengers from Edinburgh to London in four hours are being proposed for the East Coast Main Line.
New rail operator Platinum Trains wants to compete with airlines which fly between the two cities, it was reported today.
It has applied to launch two return services on weekdays and one at weekends.
And the Office of Rail Regulation has asked Network Rail to assess capacity on the line, with a decision due in January.
Gary Jones, project director of Platinum Trains, said journey times would be cut below the current four-and-a-half hours by only stopping the trains for a crew change at York.
