One millionth Castle visitors having a blast
EDINBURGH Castle has welcomed one million visitors during the current financial year.
The lucky couple to reach the landmark were Britta Springstrow, 36, and Rene Woffeh, 26, from Germany.
Mr Woffeh said the couple were spending three days on their first trip to Edinburgh after a family member recommended the city.
He added: "We came because of the landscape and the buildings."
The Castle attracts 1.2 million visitors a year from around the world and a 2.7m visitor reception project was completed just last year.
Barbara Smith, executive manager at Edinburgh Castle, said: "The arrival of the millionth visitor is always a milestone. This year, it is particularly pleasing in the economic climate."
