Oh Brother, it's time some for musical reality
SICK of watching Darnell, Kat and the rest of this year's Big Brother housemates?
Then get down to the George Square Theatre for Big Bruvva – The Musical, which opened yesterday and features a BB Hall of Fame, with pre-recorded guest appearances from Anthony Hutton, winner of Big Brother 6, Thalia Zucchi, a former member of allSTARS who played a fake Australian housemate called Pauline on Big Brother 8, and Liam McGough, who won 100,000 on Big Brother 8. But were they really any more interesting that the current lot?
No kidding, you can get into all this for free
BUCKSHEE comedy can't only be found on the Free Fringe next week. As part of Edinburgh Corona Week, there will be free one-hour stand-up comedy events at Assembly Bar, Lothian Street, on Monday and Friday.
The Laughing Horse@Espionage, Victoria Street, will also host hour-long comedy freebies on Tuesday through to Sunday.
The gigs are just a few of more than 40 events at bars and venues across the city, including a Corona night at Cabaret Voltaire, Blair Street on Wednesday with guest DJ M.A.N.D.Y.
Crisis? What crisis as Annie steps into breach
WHAT happens when your leading lady disappears in your last week of rehearsals and it's a solo performance?
New to the Fringe and punching well above their weight, Edinburgh-based Wave Theatre show how not to make a crisis. Writer/director Annie George hasn't trod the boards for nearly ten years but this week, when Kiran Sharma had to go due to a family crisis, George stepped up and delivered a fine performance in the first play in a trilogy of new writing, Three Flying Solo, especially commissioned for the Festival by Wave.
