Using a couple of high-powered fans and the body of the famed car, one industrious film fan has put together his very own hovercraft, able to glide over any surface. Sure we all want one, but where would you try it out? The craft would probably dissolve on contact with the water in the Forth.

• Scottish confectioner Tunnocks are looking to cash in on their famous brand after launching their own clothing line.

With hats, hoodies, and t-shirts available, you too can proudly display your brand loyalty and give thanks to a Scottish icon.

No news yet on when the Buckfast tracksuit will be available.

• A college American football star is this week doing his best to wriggle out of an embarrassing situation after claiming that he had been inspired to win by the death of his girlfriend, despite the fact that she never existed.

Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o later told reporters that the death of his partner Lennay Kekua due to cancer had driven him to lead his team to victory, however he quickly claimed he had been the victim of an elaborate hoax when an investigative journalist found no such person existed.

Te’o then claimed he had never met his girlfriend in person, but had formed a relationship online with someone claiming to be Lennay Kekua.

The linebacker has since been coy in answering reporters’ questions, but some cynics have suggested that the story could have been concocted to help gain sympathy and help Te’o’s chances of winning the coveted Heisman Trophy, awarded to the best college player each year.

With such a false sob story, he could even win the X-Factor.
