Warning over scam to recruit paying extras for fake horror film
A couple found dead in a sheltered complex may be a murder-suicide case
CON artists are trying to scam would-be movie extras by tempting them with work in a horror film that does not exist, police have warned.
• Members of the public have been sent emails asking for £60 deposit in exchange for opportunity to appear in horror film
• VisitScotland have contacted police over fears that filmmakers were conducting scam
Northern Constabulary says members of the public have received emails from the makers of ‘Wood Evil’, which it is claimed is being made in Inchnacardoch Forest near Fort Augustus soon, saying they have been chosen to appear in it and asking for a £60 deposit.
The initial concerns were raised with VisitScotland who contacted police.
Police and the Highland Film Commission have not been made aware of any proposed filming happening and believe it to be a scam.
Northern Constabulary has urged anyone who is approached about Wood Evil not to pay any money but contact police.
