Video: outrage as woman removed from Ryanair flight for having more than one item of hand luggage

Waiting for Video...

BUDGET carrier Ryanair has been criticised after a woman was taken off a plane after she fell foul of baggage rules.

The woman, who has not been identified, was removed from the flight by police moments before it took off after cabin crew spotted her carrying a book and a scroll that would not fit into her hand luggage.

The video sparked a storm of protest amongst Spanish Twitter users after it appeared in the press with some calling for a boycott of the Dublin-based carrier.

Footage of the unidentified woman being bundled off the flight was recorded by a fellow passenger who then posted the clip on YouTube.

The woman is seen pleading with police to remain onboard before being forcibly removed by two officers.

Shouts of “Shameful, Shameful” can be heard in the background.

A spokesman for Ryanair claimed the woman had become disruptive and had “pushed past” staff at the gate without showing any identification.

“This passenger was in breach of airport security regulations, and having become disruptive was properly removed from the aircraft at the request of Ryanair agents,” said a spokesman.
