Video clip of sister telling her brother to “toughen up a bit” goes viral
FOUR-YEAR-OLD Delilah O’Donoghue and her two-year-old brother Gabriel may be set to become Youtube’s newest stars.
A 65 second clip, captured by the pair’s father, has attracted over a million hits on the video-sharing website since it was uploaded less than a week ago.
In the video Delilah is seen sitting with her younger brother after the latter was reprimanded by their father for spitting at another young boy in a playground.
Clearly dissatisfied with her parent’s discipline techniques, she admonishes her sibling, uttering the line: “You should toughen up a bit,” a line which has since become the title of the video.
Mr O’Donoghue, a 42-year-old company director, began filming the scene on his smartphone.
He said: “Delilah’s very bossy,” Mrs O’Donoghue said that the children are “good little buddies really.”
Mr O’Donoghue said: “I am not the sort of father who follows my children around with a digital camcorder. I just spotted it and thought it was comedy gold.”
Deliberate or not, Delilah and Gabriel now face the possibility of following in the footsteps of child Youtube sensations Harry and Charlie Davies-Carr of “Charlie bit my finger” fame.
Following the success of “You Need to Toughen Up A Bit,” the O’Donoghues have signed up with Viral Spiral, the same company that have earned the parents of Charlie and Harry £100,000 in advertising revenues and marketing deals.
The video clip’s popularity has already won the family requests for interviews and appearances from media outlets here and in the United States.
A representative of Viral Spiral said: “This one is certainly endearing as Delilah shows so much maturity in what she says.
“What happens next depends on how far the family want to go with it.”
