‘Talking’ dog tops list of most watched YouTube videos of 2011
The most popular YouTube videos of 2011 have been revealed, with a “talking” dog beating a spoof of the royal wedding to the number one spot.
In the clip, which has been watched over 74 million times, the dog appears to say “you’re kidding me” when its owner teases it about food being served to the cat.
The second-placed royal wedding spoof, an advert for mobile phone network T-Mobile, features some fairly convincing lookalikes dancing outrageously at a palace party.
Third in the chart is “Winning” - an edit of actor Charlie Sheen talking on US television about his troubled departure from the show Two And A Half Men, to music by the Gregory Brothers.
If nothing else, the chart is a revealing look at what we do when we want to waste a few minutes without - evidently - having to think too much about it.
Other popular clips included “Nyan Cat”, an animation of a cat flying through the air, chanting to synthesised pop music, IT engineer Michael Collings’ audition on the ITV show Britain’s Got Talent, “Talking Twin Babies”, showing 18-month-old twins having a gibberish conversation in their parents’ kitchen, and a fast-paced musical edit of Masterchef.
The list of most-watched videos was released by YouTube’s owner, Google.
YouTube trends manager Kevin Allocca said: “The 10 most-watched YouTube videos of 2011 show that around the world, whatever language we speak, there are certain things that bring us all together around a computer screen or mobile phone - adorable babies, talented performers, and clever advertising.”
