Shop display’s toilet humour gets owner in trouble

A SHOP owner has been told to remove a urinating mannequin from his window after police were called.

The owner of menswear shop Philip Browne in Norwich had posed a wooden mannequin urinating on a wall and spelling out the word “sale” in the store’s window.

The mannequin was surrounded by empty Champagne bottles, party poppers and discarded clothes to depict the aftermath of a night out. But police were called by a member of the public who took exception to the display.

Officers warned shop owner Philip Browne that he could be violating the 1986 Public Order Act.

So one nut-job prude gets a fit of the victorian vapours and Plod stops everyone else enjoying harmless lavatorial humour. Can't even blame the EU for this one, otherwise Brussels would lose it's #1 tourist attraction (is there anything else to see there?)

So silly, what about the many Mannikin Pis statues around the world? Get rid of them too?

I think it's time to start acting against these laws; when laws are made to constrain individual rights, only because they can, then it's time to start breaking these illegal so-called laws.

I used to have that kind of gear. A tap connected to nothing giving a continual flow of water into a Gannex bucket. Really good. I do not know if I would go for a guy urinating on a wall spelling out SALE. I have always been a bit of a coward. Not so much from the council officers, but our religious right could be quite demonstrative at times.
