The comedian has offered to pay the 22,500 (£51) fines of each tourist after they wore the mankinis made famous in the movie Borat.

Baron Cohen played the fictional Borat who was a Kazakh TV presenter in the film and goes to the US to make a documentary. One of the most memorable moments in the film - full title Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan - is him wearing the one-piece mankini.

It saw Kazakhstan ban the film with Baron Cohen threatened with law suits. Although in 2012 the country’s foreign minister credited him with helping boost tourism.

The Czech tourists were deemed to be “indecent” when wearing the mankini, posing for photos in the country’s capital of Astana.

Baron Cohen wrote on his Facebook: “To my Czech mates who were arrested. Send me your details and proof that it was you, and I’ll pay your fine.”
