Reporter accepts Bill Murray’s apology

AN STV reporter caught on the wrong end of a grumpy rant from Hollywood actor Bill Murray at St Andrews is expected to frame a written apology from the veteran comedian.

The Groundhog Day star refused to answer questions from sports reporter Tyrone Smith at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on Wednesday. In an exchange caught on camera, Murray said he had already spoken to one “moron” for the day.

The 62-year-old later made two separate attempts to track down Mr Smith to apologise after finishing his golf round.

He left a note at the
St Andrews media centre. It read: “Dear Sir, I am sorry. Truly, Bill Murray.”

Mr Smith said: “Of course
I accept Bill’s apology.”
