AN advert showing a man visiting a McDonald’s in Millport has been labelled ‘odd’ - because there is no branch of the fast food chain on the town’s island.

Residents were bemused to see the ad showing a man and his dog get aboard a ferry to Cumbrae, Ayrshire.

The advert shows a man and his dog makign a journey to Millport to visit a non-existant McDonalds

The duo are seen walking along the seafront before entering the make-believe restaurant to order breakfast.

Labour councillor Alex Gallagher said: “The overriding opinion is the advert is a bit odd.”

The advert, which was broadcast last week, was defended by the chain, who said in a statement: “A number of locations across Scotland were used during the filming of our new breakfast advert.

“These have been used to depict the fictional journey of the main character.”
