A live shark has stunned players at a California golf course - after falling out of the sky onto the 12th tee.
The two-foot long leopard shark was alive when it unexpectedly arrived at the San Juan Hills Golf Club, and its injuries suggested it had been picked up by a bird whilst in the Pacific Ocean, around five miles away.
A course marshall took the shark to water, before realising that the animal was from the sea. Staff then found some sea salt from the clubhouse kitchen to add to their water, before rushing the shark back to the ocean.
Operations director Melissa McCormack said that the shark seemed to have recovered when it swam off into the ocean, and that no-one was injured when the shark landed. She also said that this was not the first animal the course staff had encountered. She said: “We have your typical coyotes, skunks and the occasional mountain lion, but nothing like a shark.”
