The owners of an isle of Man bus are pulling out all the stops as they ponder how to recover a coach from the wreckage of a collapsed bridge.

The driver managed to escape unharmed and there were no passengers on board the coach that crashed into the river at Old Laxey.

A statement from Bus Vannin read: “We are working with emergency services to recover the bus.

‘Happy to report there were no passengers on board.

‘It was going over the bridge to turn on the coach area of the promenade when the bridge collapsed.

‘The driver got out safely.”
