THANK you, Gavin Rumgay, for giving us one of the more bizarre events at Glasgow 2014 - and we’re only on Day 2.
The 29-year-old Team Scotland member staged a quite remarkable comeback from two games down against Canadian opponent Pierre-Luc Theriault in the men’s Table Tennis team event earlier today, and celebrated winning a crucial point by, well, pulling his shorts up in a ‘mankini’ pose - or a ‘self-wedgie’, if you like.
You have to feel for Theriault, though, who must surely have been put off by the sight of Rumgay’s stripy boxer shorts.
Little wonder, then, that the Scot went on to win the game, celebrating by rolling around on the ground before getting up to dance along to Proclaimers’ anthem ‘500 Miles.’
If you’re going to celebrate, you might as well do it in style.
I can’t be alone in hoping he wins a medal.
