Ocean Terminal secures new deals
A SERIES of deals is set to bring Ocean Terminal shopping centre closer to capacity.
Swedish fashion giant H&M is due to open a 10,600 square foot store next month, while Frankie & Benny's restaurant chain has also conditionally signed up to the Leith centre.
The centre also said it was in "advanced discussions" with other potential new tenants keen to move into the first and second floors, which would take occupancy above 90 per cent.
Part of Ocean Terminal owner Forth Ports' plans for Leith Docks include nearly doubling the size of the shopping centre, which has been criticised by retailers who fear the impact it will have on the city centre.
But Charles Hammond, chief executive at Forth Ports, said: "I think it is complimentary. We're supportive of what is happening in the city centre. The tram will form a good link between the east end - John Lewis and the St James Centre - and Ocean Terminal."
Forth Ports also said in an interim management statement that its main ports division is performing "slightly ahead of expectations".
