Nursing home Renaissance as 'care hotel'
DEVELOPERS behind a £2 million luxury "care hotel" opening in the Capital have chosen a name.
The former Grange Nursing Home on Chalmers Crescent is to be renamed Renaissance at Glencairn.
It is to be officially opened by Scottish Conservative MEP Struan Stevenson on March 27.
The building, built in 1877, used to be known as Glencairn Tower and still has markings with its former name.
Dow Investments is spending 2m bringing out the original features of the building, including chandeliers, en-suite bedrooms with mini-bars and hotel-style dining.
Rooms at the 26-bed facility will cost up to 1000 a week – among the most expensive in Edinburgh.
Around 30 posts are to be created, including a 50,000-a-year manager, who has already been recruited.
