Nursery staff applauded at crisis meeting
PARENTS applauded the staff at a closure-threatened nursery during a meeting called to discuss a damning report.
The meeting was held at Musselburgh's Butterflies Day Nursery after the Care Commission released a report rating every aspect of it "unsatisfactory".
As the Evening News reported yesterday, staff were bewildered at the report, given that a similar one had evaluated most areas as "good" just months before.
Management at the nursery– part of the Happitots group – called the meeting to allay parents' fears. Operations director Lyndsay Grant said: "It was a little hostile at first as you would expect, but by the end we spoke about everything and there was a round of applause for the staff. We can't change the report, but we are doing as much as we can."
No parents have withdrawn their child from the 130-capacity nursery.
