Nurse charged over hospital drugs theft
A NURSE has been arrested and charged in connection with the theft of morphine from a Lothian hospital.
The 43-year-old woman was due to appear at Linlithgow Sheriff Court yesterday following the theft around two weeks ago from St John's Hospital in Livingston.
Six nurses were suspended from the hospital after the case full of powerful painkilling drugs went missing.
NHS Lothian would not comment on the arrest of the nurse.
Alan Boyter, director of human resources and organisational development, NHS Lothian, said today: "NHS Lothian has clear and strict policies in place surrounding the use and administration of controlled drugs."
