Numbers are up as census creates extra jobs on isles
UP TO 20 jobs are to be created on the isles of Lewis and Harris when the area pilots the next major Scottish census.
Census regional manager, Donald Martin and his deputy, Lorna Eller, will supervise two team leaders and 17 census-takers in the distribution and collection of questionnaires from more than 10,000 households.
The rehearsal, on 29 March, aims to test the arrangements for Scotland's next census on 27 March 2011.
Householders have the option to complete questionnaires online for the first time – and the online questionnaire can be completed in both Gaelic or English.
Householders have a legal duty to complete and return a census questionnaire.
