No progress yet in police's care home deaths probe
THE deaths of two residents of a closed-down care home are still being investigated by police.
No formal progress has been made on the cases, which occurred after two residents left the Elsie Inglis care home in Abbeyhill, with the force confirming today that the investigation was "still ongoing".
The 60-bed care home was closed earlier this summer after the death of one woman with learning disabilities was confirmed.
Then, once residents had been moved to a mixture of other private care homes and hospitals, an elderly man lost his life, again prompting police involvement.
Elsie Inglis had received good results from inspectors until they visited it in April and awarded one of the lowest scores ever to be handed out in Scotland. The home was subsequently shut down.
