No space for parking plea
A FAMILY has lost its bid to create a parking space in their front garden in a leafy Edinburgh suburb.
The Fallons wanted to demolish a wall and part of their garden on Newington's Gilmour Road but were refused by the council in August.
Now an appeal to the Scottish Government has also failed, with Holyrood saying there was no place for it within the Craigmillar Park Conservation Area, even though several other households had adopted this facility.
Planning reporter Dannie Onn said: "There are many front gardens with car parking and other driveways to side and rear parking, including the access drive at the adjacent property.
"One of the threats to the character of the area is the gradual loss of front gardens to car parking."
