NHS website speech system to help dyslexic users
THE content of the NHS Lothian website can now be dictated to users thanks to a special programme.
The package has been introduced to help people with dyslexia, mild visual impairments and poor reading skills, and means text on the site is read out when clicked on.
NHS Lothian's main website will have the tool available. Research has found the programme is also popular among people who have English as their second language.
Browsealoud software can be downloaded for free.
NHS webmaster David McBain said: "We have subscribed to Browsealoud because it is crucial that we make the information on our websites available to as wide an audience as possible."
