NHS puts the spotlight on sexual health
MORE than 100 people are helping NHS Lothian develop a new strategy to improve sexual health.
Health and education chiefs, former patients and independent organisations have all had a say to form a plan for the next five years.
HIV is the main infection the health board wants to address, given Edinburgh is Scotland's most prevalent area for the disease. But plans for clamping down on illnesses such as chlamydia, genital warts and herpes will also feature.
Strategic programme manager Jamie Megaw said: "Although there is no formal strategy for HIV currently in force in NHS Lothian, there has been some fantastic work done through initiatives such as our award-winning HIV Comeback Tour.
"It is an exciting opportunity to develop a strategy for the region focusing on both HIV and sexual health."
