NHS Lothians staff targeted in fraud sweep
A CRACKDOWN on NHS staff who defraud the organisation has been launched across the Lothians. NHS Lothian, along with several other organisations in the UK, has been asked by the National Fraud Initiative to participate in a sweep of records.
The most common fraud is workers claiming for shifts that were never fulfilled.
Last year fraud cost the local health board 13,000, and bosses are keen to get that figure down.
An NHS Lothian spokesman, said: "It's important for people who work in the NHS to be aware that fraud takes place."
