NHS serves up barbecue tips

COOKING food in an oven and transferring to a barbecue to finish are among a series of summer tips being issued by the local health board.

NHS Lothian bosses are keen to reduce the number of food poisoning cases across the area and see poorly prepared barbecue food as one of the main causes at this time of year.

The guidelines issued say cooking meats through in an over first, rather than relying solely on the barbecue to cook the food will reduce the risk.
