New members of Children's Panel sought
NEW members are being sought to join the Children's Panel at open meetings being held in the Lothians later this month.
The event is due to take place in conference rooms one and two at John Muir House in Haddington, East Lothian between 7:30pm and 9pm on Tuesday 22 September and Monday 28 September.
People attending the meeting will receive information on the work involved, as well as available training, and can speak to existing panel members.
The children's hearings system in Scotland relies on around 2,500 people, who sit on hearings in their own local authority area.
Children are referred because they are considered to be at risk or have offended.
At each hearing, panel members work with the child, parents or carers, and professionals to try and make decisions which are in the best interests of the child.
