New father dies after stabbing in London

THE latest victim of knife crime was the father of a newborn baby who was in the capital to help decorate his mother's home, neighbours said today.

Described as "one of the nicest boys you could see", the 27-year-old victim, named as Elliot Guy, was stabbed to death as he left a party in north London in early yesterday.

He was found with a stab wound to his neck in Tufnell Park and died later in hospital.

A neighbour of the victim's mother, who did not wish to be named, wept as she paid tribute to a "very nice, very quiet boy" today.

Speaking close to the family home in Mortimer Terrace, she said: "He was so innocent. That's why I'm so choked. I can't imagine the pain his family is going through. It's devastating. I watched him grow up.

"He had just finished his studies. He was very skilful. He was one of the nicest boys you could see."

The victim lived in Devon and had recently become a father, according to neighbours. Police were last night questioning two men and a woman arrested in connection with the attack.

Yesterday's stabbing happened not far from the scene of the death of 16-year-old Ben Kinsella, whose funeral was held on Friday.

In the latest incident, the Metropolitan Police said they were called to Junction Road at 2.50am and found the victim suffering from a stab wound.

He was taken to the Whittington Hospital where he died at about 4am.

A post-mortem examination was being carried out last night.

Police said: "We believe the victim had attended a house party near to where he was found."

They said they were keeping an open mind as to a motive for the killing.

A 41-year-old man, a 30-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman are being held at separate north London police stations.

In Tufnell Park the victim's blood and a pile of blood-soaked dressings were still on the pavement where forensic officers searched the street where he died.

A floral tribute left at the scene read: "To Elliot, I'm so sorry for the loss of a good friend. May you rest in peace. Gone but not forgotten."

The news came as an ICM poll found 71% of 16 to 24-year-olds gave their support for a mandatory two-year prison sentence for anyone caught carrying a knife.
