New chapter in Capital's literary glory
BUDDING city writers celebrated the launch of a collection of prose showcasing their work as part of the Full Stop project.
The 14 to 19-year-olds have worked under the tutorage of city crime author Tony Black to create original and exciting reads for the first time.
Their work was released last night at the Scottish Poetry Library following months of dedicated work.
During the seven-week course the teenagers learned how to develop characters, setting and plot to each create their own piece of storytelling.
Mr Black brought in fellow crime authors during the course and arranged visits to the local Writer's Museum.
After completing their stories, the young group worked with a designer and copy editors to create Heart, a book collating their works.
Last night the group came together again for live readings, performances and book signings.
Mr Black, a former crime reporter known for his hit Gus Dury novels, previously worked for national newspapers and has been praised by Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh for his gritty Tartan Noir style.
