New chair for junior medics

JUNIOR doctors across the Lothians have appointed a new leader.

Dr Jennifer Logue has been elected as chairwoman of the British Medical Association's Edinburgh-based Scottish Junior Doctors Committee.

She said ensuring juniors had the opportunity of career progression was a key goal of her tenure.

She said: "We have spent the past few years focusing on the aftermath of the changes in training and recruitment brought about by modernising medical careers.

"Our focus now moves towards ensuring that current and future generations of junior doctors are given the opportunity to train as, and be employed as, the consultants and GP principals that the NHS in Scotland needs to deliver a high quality service."
