Music video is taken to another dimension

An award-winning filmmaker has added to his achievements by releasing the first 3D music video made in the Capital.

Andrew Murchie, who recently won an industry award for his 3D short film FourPlay, filmed and edited the music video over several months.

The video, believed to be the first home-made in Scotland, shows the filmmaker - who is also the songwriter and performer - as a series of holograms performing the song Gloria (The Death of Me).

The creation uses stereoscopic technology to create cinema quality 3D at full HD resolution that can work with both the old red and blue 3D glasses and the full range of modern 3D TV and cinema projection systems.

Mr Murchie said: "The video has been over six months in the making. Much of the time has been testing the 3D to get the perfect effect for every shot. It's incredibly important that the 3D effect is controlled to give the best results without inducing the headaches so common with badly created 3D films.

"Creating the video's hologram projection look was the most time-consuming challenge. It was a bit like creating the Star Wars scene where Princess Leia beams from R2D2, but not as sexy!"
