Murray speaks on Dunblane massacre
TENNIS ace Andy Murray was reportedly paid £1 million for his autobiography Hitting Back, launched this week.
For the first time, he talks at length about his rise to stardom and dealing with the media.
But Dunblane's most famous son also recalls the day Thomas Hamilton entered his school gym on 13 March, 1996, and shot dead 16 pupils and a teacher.
Murray has said very little on the issue but devotes eight pages of his book to it. The 21-year-old – eight at the time – recalls being ushered into a classroom by the headmaster as he and fellow pupils were on their way to the gym. The siblings of his friends were among the victims.
For Murray, one of the most disturbing elements was the realisation that he knew Hamilton via the local boys' club.
