Murphy in racism rally
SCOTTISH Secretary Jim Murphy joined hundreds of marchers yesterday in Glasgow to protest against racism.
Prime Minister Gordon Brown and First Minister Alex Salmond sent messages of support to the event, as did the leaders of Scotland's political parties.
Organisers at the Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) said between 800 and 1,000 had joined in the rally. Labour Glasgow Kelvin MSP Pauline McNeill was among the marchers, as was SNP Central Scotland MSP Christina McKelvie and Solidarity's Tommy Sheridan.
STUC general secretary Grahame Smith said: "In these challenging economic times, we have to guard against prejudice or marginalisation."
