Murder appeal reward
A REWARD of £5,000 has been offered for information about the murder of a frail pensioner in his house.
Robert Simpson, 67, was found dead at his home in Mayfield Drive, Armadale, West Lothian, at about 9pm last Saturday. He had been assaulted and suffered serious head injuries, police said.
The charity Crimestoppers has offered the money in relation to the police investigation.
Around 40 officers are working on the case and Lothian and Borders Police said they have received “a number of useful pieces of information” from previous appeals.
Detective Superintendent Bob Cowper said: “Despite our best efforts, we’ve yet to trace Mr Simpson’s killer or killers.
“The response from the local community has been very encouraging so far, however there may still be other pieces of vital information out there and I would encourage people to come forward.
“There was a really positive response from the local community to our one week on appeal last night, and uniformed officers are continuing to provide high visibility patrols around the Armadale area.
“I am also grateful to Crimestoppers for their help with this enquiry. Please be assured any information passed to them will be treated in complete anonymity.”
