Murder accused believed mother had run off, court told
A WOMAN believed her mother had "run off" on the night she is alleged to have murdered her, a court heard.
Lisa Brown, 21, told police she went to her mother Anne Brown's Ayrshire home on 18 October and found a young child inside alone.
She said she did not report this because it was not unusual.
Brown and co-accused John Wilson, 25, are on trial at the High Court in Glasgow charged with murdering Anne Brown, 51, in Laigh Gree, Burnhouse, Ayrshire, and later disposing of her body in a burn.
The jury heard how Mrs Brown, a former nurse, and a young child who she and her daughter cared for, were reported missing on 24 October.
Brown and Wilson deny murder. They also deny attempting to defeat the ends of justice by disposing of Mrs Brown's body in Clerkland Burn, Ayrshire.
The trial continues.
