Mumps cases rise in Lothian

NEARLY 30 people in the Lothians fell ill from mumps last week, figures have shown.

Statistics issued by Health Protection Scotland have shown a rise in the number of cases in the area.

Twenty-eight people contracted the illness, while 26 people got food poisoning. There were 109 cases of chickenpox and three instances of scarlet fever, as well as a case whooping cough and rubella.
