MTV sell-off is kilted out for charity
SIX exclusive sporrans used in Edinburgh’s glamorous MTV Europe Awards are the star prizes in a charity auction for the Radio Forth Help a Child appeal.
The specially-designed sporrans were used by presenters such as Kelly Osbourne, Shirley Manson and Billy Boyd to carry the envelopes containing the names of the award-winners.
During the ceremony at Leith’s Ocean Terminal, kilted models strutted on stage with envelopes taken from their sporrans to reveal the award-winners. One orange and green furry sporran, which still contains the card announcing Justin Timberlake had won the Best Male category, was presented by Janes Addiction frontman Perry Farrell.
Other sporrans up for grabs include a pink and white furry sporran used to announce the winner of best female, Christina Aguilera.
The sporrans, donated by the Kilt Hire Company, are among more than 400 items up for auction in the annual appeal which organisers hope will raise in excess of 20,000 for children with special needs.
Exclusive prizes also include signed memorabilia from Timberlake, Kylie Minogue and Erasure.
The auction will be broadcast simultaneously on Forth One and Forth 2, from today until Sunday.
