MSP voices King's fears

LABOUR MSP Sarah Boyack has lodged a parliamentary motion voicing concerns for the future of Edinburgh's King's Theatre.

If there is no significant work on the building in the next two years, the theatre may be forced to close.

Council chiefs say they cannot afford to pay for the refurbishment until 2010 at the earliest.

Ms Boyack's motion calls on the council "to enter into funding negotiations with the Scottish Government and the Festival City Theatres Trust".
